How It Works

AI-optimized charging schedules built around your tariff and your routes

The Decade Energy optimizer reads live electricity prices, your fleet departure times, and available charger capacity, then generates a schedule that keeps every vehicle ready while avoiding demand charge spikes.

34% avg. peak cost reduction in our early-access pilots
97% departure readiness rate across scheduled vehicles
2.4h avg. off-peak window captured per vehicle per day

Architecture

How the optimizer works

Three data streams feed a constraint-based solver that outputs a minute-level charging plan, automatically pushed to your charger hardware before the overnight window opens.

Tariff API Live price data, time-of-use windows
Fleet Telematics Vehicle state of charge, route data
Departure Schedule First departure time per vehicle slot
Decade Scheduler Constraint-based optimizer, runs before each overnight window
Charger Hardware OCPP commands delivered per slot
Fleet Dashboard Real-time status, schedule visualization

Capabilities

What the scheduler does for your depot

Every feature is designed around one goal: your fleet leaves the depot fully charged, and your electricity bill reflects off-peak rates.

Dynamic tariff optimization

The scheduler ingests your electricity contract's time-of-use pricing every 15 minutes and continuously updates charging windows to lock in the lowest available rate. When spot prices spike unexpectedly, the system adjusts immediately without operator input.

Departure readiness guarantee

Every vehicle's charging slot is sized to its next morning's route distance, so the van with the longest journey starts charging first. The system flags any slot where state-of-charge will fall short before the shift briefing, giving dispatchers time to reassign vehicles.

Fleet telematics integration

Decade Energy connects to your existing telematics platform to pull real-time state of charge and odometer readings. No manual data entry, no CSV uploads. Supported via REST API or direct integration with compatible telematics providers.

Real-time load alerts

If a charger goes offline mid-session or a vehicle's battery management system reports a fault, the scheduler redistributes load to remaining chargers within seconds and sends an alert to your operations team via Slack or email before the gap affects the morning schedule.

Battery storage dispatch

For depots with on-site battery storage, the optimizer charges the buffer during cheap overnight periods and dispatches stored energy during morning peak demand windows. This can eliminate demand charge events even when vehicle count exceeds grid connection capacity.

Integrations

Connects to your existing charger hardware and fleet software

Decade Energy speaks OCPP to your charger network and REST to your telematics and route planning tools. No forklift replacement of existing infrastructure required.

Charger Hardware OCPP 1.6 and 2.0.1 compatible charge point management
Fleet TMS Two-way sync with transport management systems for route data
Telematics Live state of charge and odometer pulls via REST or websocket
Grid APIs Day-ahead and intraday market price feeds for NL and nearby markets
SCADA/BMS On-site energy management system read/write for load balancing
Energy Markets EPEX SPOT and APX price data for real-time tariff optimization
